Project Overview
As more people switch over from gas-powered cars to electric vehicles, the demand for EV chargers has grown exponentially. By 2030, we will need to support more than 18 million electric vehicles. It will cost $300 billion to build a global charging network and $50 billion is in the U.S alone. My goals include understanding EV users’ motivation behind their vehicle preferences, learning about their pain points of owning an EV, and creating a cost-effective solution to tackle the charger shortage.
The Challenge
Users are frustrated with overcrowded charging stations and struggle to find convenient charging away from home.
The Solution
Provide EV users with more charging options and make traveling more convenient by connecting EV charger owners to EV users through an app similar to how Airbnb works. The hosts provide their chargers to users and the users pays a service fee to use their charger temporarily.
